TOP 5 BUDGET BEAUTY BUYS

Hello everyone, I hope you’re having a great week! If you have been here with me for some time you probably know that high-end beauty products are my weakness and I often feature them in my posts. However, among my all-time favourites there are also many drugstore products – some of them I choose over even the fanciest products in my collection. Here are my top picks that are on more of a budget side but of impeccable quality!

1.Rimmel Lasting Finish concealer.

My favourite high-coverage concealer that you probably know very well as I include it in almost every makeup look! I use it to conceal any blemishes or dark spots that I have on my skin. It is very creamy and blendable but it dries to a powdery finish what keeps it from smudging and creasing during the day. I also love that it doesn’t break me out what happens to be the case with most of concealers. The only disadvantage I can find is that it fades throughout the day but the cream-to-powder formula makes it easy to reapply.

2. Essence Eyeliner pen waterproof.

I once heard Tati raving about this in one of her videos and I just had to try it. Finding the perfect eyeliner has always been a struggle for me – I just can’t get the line (not to mention the flick…) right and even if I manage to do it, everything smudges or transfers due to my hooded eyes and oily skin after a short time. With this baby, however, drawing a line couldn’t be easier thanks to the very fine felt tip and you don’t need to worry about it budging literally all day, it’s amazing! I thought that removing it would be a pain but it comes off really easily with an oil-based makeup remover. Best. eyeliner. ever.

3. Revlon Volume + length magnified mascara.

I always have the same struggle with the mascaras as with eyeliners – almost everything smudges and transfers, if not to the upper lid then to my under eye area. This is one of the very few (and the only drugstore) mascaras that don’t smudge onto my cheeks during the day nor flake. It just stays as it was applied until I remove it in the end of the day. I also find that drugstore mascaras tend to irritate my eyes but this one doesn’t at all. To my taste it could be more lengthening/curling on the lashes but I still love it the way it is!

4. Wibo Diamond Illuminator highlighter.

Wibo is a very affordable Polish brand, kind of like Wet’n’Wild in the US. Although really affordable, this concealer is just ❤ , I would compare it to the famous Mary Lou-manizer by The Balm. It gives you beautiful glow but without that Christmas ornament effect of visible sprinkles of glitter all over the face. It makes a visible difference both in the pictures and everyday life, I always get compliments on my makeup when I use it! And for ąround 10złotys (ca. 3$) it’s a steal.

5. H&M Pure Radiance powder blusher in Tawny Peach.

The last one is my most recent discovery that I bought totally randomly after browsing the H&M beauty section for the first time and it was one of my best makeup purchases! It’s this kind of beautiful peachy-brown blush, almost like a bronzer but not really because it has hints of pink in it as well, so hard to find. It’s such a gorgeous shade that gives the skin a bronzy but in a highlighting kind of way, healthy look. The name doesn’t lie – even though you can’t detect shimmer it has radiance in it that highlights your cheekbones. I am slightly obsessed about it at the moment, it’s a perfect blush for summer but would be great in winter too, paired with a bold, dark lip. The quality is great too, it stays put all day, blends easily and the packaging has a luxurious touch to it.

Let me know in the comments what are your favourite drugstore makeup products, I would love to know and try them out!

Day-to-night, full coverage makeup look

1ed1

Hello everyone, I hope you’re all feeling great! I feel like I owe you some serious explanation as I was MIA on the blog for over a month.. I don’t like talking about problems so let me just say it was really hard time for me lately but I hope I am permanently back on track now! Because of all the issues my skin has been a real disaster so I had to develop a new makeup routine that would be full-coverage but at the same time suitable for my breakout-prone skin. This is what I’ve been using for the past month when going out, especially when I wanted the makeup to last all day and evening.

As a base I use my holy grail foundation – Estee Lauder Double Wear. I finally got it in the shade that matches me perfectly – 1W1. This foundation is very mattifying, even drying I would say, so I always remember to moisturize my face properly beforehand. On any blemishes or dark spots I apply Estee Lauder Double Wear Stay-in-Place High Cover concealer – it has the highest coverage among all of the products I’ve used and I love that it has SPF 35 as it prevents the spots from getting darker after sunlight exposure. It also has a tiny little mirror in it, how cool is that?! Then I prime my eyelids with Urban Decay Primer Potion in Original (sorry, I forgot to include it in the picture!) and conceal the area right under my eyes with Nyx Dark Circle concealer in 02 Light.

I always do my eyes before I set my foundation as it always creases a lot when lift my brows to do eye makeup. That way I can just dab a Beauty Blender on my skin again afterwards to get rid of the creases and then set it. For my eyelids I usually pick two palettes by Too Faced – their famous Chocolate Bar and the summer release – Sweet Peach. Now it’s time to reveal one of my favourite beauty hacks – I use the shade White Chocolate (the matte highlighter on the top of the palette) to set the Nyx concealer. It blends in so well and sets the concealer perfectly until I remove my makeup at night. I don’t have a set routine for what I use on the lids, but I usually mix the crease shades from both palettes, then highlight my inner corners with either Nectar from the Sweet Peach palette or Champagne Truffle from the Chocolate Bar. My favourite all-over the lid shade is Luscious from the Sweet Peach palette, it’s just so gorgeous and pigmented! I occasionally darken the outer corners of my eyes with one of the darker brown shades.

Currently I’m testing the L’Oreal False Lash Wings Sculpt mascara so this is what I chose for this look as well. However, I like the previously reviewed Estee Lauder mascara more. If you don’t have very straight lashes like me, the L’Oreal one should work for you as it’s not particularly curling but seriously volumizing. Then I brush through my brows with Benefit’s Gimme Brow in Medium/Deep (yep, I still have it in the old packaging!) – it’s my favourite brow gel and I don’t really need anything more.

I want my makeup to last for hours so I’m using cream products first to sculpt my face. I contour my cheeks with the brown shade from the L’Oreal Infallible Sculpt palette in 03 Medium/Dark, highlight the tops of my cheekbones, cupid’s bow and the tip of my nose (sounds weird but looks good in the end!) with L’Oreal Lumi Magique highlighting pen in 1 Light and add Clinique’s Chubby Stick blush in 02 Amp’d up apple on my cheeks. I blend all the products with a damp Beauty Blender. When I use The Estee Lauder foundation I skip the highlighting shade on my under eye area as it tends to cake up. I just realized how many products I’m using for this look and it’s mainly to improve the longevity. If you don’t need your makeup to stay on for so long, adding cream products to scupt the face isn’t necessary.

Then I set all of the cream products with their powder versions – first I use Clinique Superpowder Double Face powder in 02 Matte Beige to set the foundation, then I apply one of the brown shades from the Sephora Contouring 101 palette to set the contour and I bronze up both sides of my face in the “3” shape with Too Faced Chocolate Soleil bronzer in Medium/Deep. In the end I use Clinique’s Cheek Pop blush in Ginger Pop and Wibo Diamond Illuminator highlighter on my cheeks. I also dab a bit of the highlighter on my cupid’s bow.

Last but not the least is my newest discovery that I got with the purchase of Estee Lauder products – their Pure Color Envy Sculpting Lipstick in 240 Envious. Oh my God, how pigmented this little one is! It’s the perfect classic, vibrant red, really outstanding. The lipstick has creamy formula so it’s not the most long-lasting out there but it’s so beautiful I just had to include it! I usually don’t wear red lipstick during the day but it’s definitely a great choice for a night out.

And here is the finished look!
