Hello everyone, I hope you had a great start of the week! Foundation has always been the most important item in my makeup bag and also the one that I tend to struggle with – either the shade isn’t right, the formula is too light or too heavy, it breaks me out… While on the hunt for The Perfect Foundation I decided to try the recommended-by-literally-everyone Infallible 24H-Matte foundation by L’Oreal Paris. It is claimed to have medium consistency, full coverage and matte finish so it sounded like an ideal match for me. I was happy to find a drugstore foundation that was supposed to meet my expectations.
I like the style of the packaging, it’s simple but still looks classy, especially for the drugstore. The squeezy tube is a hygenic solution that also helps to avoid any spills so that is also a plus. Just as promised, the foundation has medium consistency, it’s neither too runny or too heavy. My preferred way of application is with a Beauty Blender but it blended well when using just fingers too, which is great if you’re in a hurry or makeup tools are just too much of a hassle. I got it in the shade 11 Vanilla that matches me perfectly. For comparison, I’m NC20 at MAC and Y235 in MUFE Ultra HD foundation.
I really had high hopes for this one as there was huge hype about it all over Youtube and blogs. It was supposed to have a high-end finish and quality for a drugstore price. I gotta say that whenever I’d used it, I was always amazed by the new skin effect that it gave. I was surprised how well it blended into the skin, making it look flawless, but not in a way of wearing perfect makeup but just having great skin. The effect was so natural! It reminds me a lot of the MUFE Ultra HD foundation, only with more matte finish. I haven’t worn it for 24 hours obviously, but it has always lasted very well throughout the day – it didn’t crack, melt, separate and my skin didn’t get particularly oily either. I wouldn’t say it’s as full coverage as the Estee Lauder Double Wear foundation but I anyways use a concealer on any imperfections that try to peek through. Here is the picture of me wearing the foundation topped with my Clinique Superpowder (the picture was taken in April):
Perfect foundation? Low price, great blendability, flawless finish, long-lasting… Well, almost perfect because there’s a catch. It broke me out really terribly and in addition to that gave me an allergic reaction. I first tried it in April, broke out, healed, tried again in May and in June and every time the effect was the same – really bad acne and red, irritated skin around the nose that still hasn’t healed completely. That was really disappointing, as I loved the foundation itself but unfortunately I can’t use it because it’s just not worth making damage to my skin!
Overall I think it’s a really amazing foundation if you don’t have sensitive or acne-prone skin. If you are suffering or have suffered from skin issues I would either avoid it or try it out first before buying, if it’s possible. If you have oily or normal skin but no tendency to acne, this can work very well for you as the finish and longevity are really impressive!
Have you used this foundation? What are your favourite drugstore foundations? I would love to hear your recommendations!
